Adaptive Paddlesports | Kayaking

Ages: 15 – years old as of August 31, 2025
Prerequisites: None
This program provides a supportive environment for kayakers ages 15+ and their caregivers or families (if needed or desired) to experience the peacefulness of Duxbury Bay while learning the fundamentals of paddlesports. Past participants have had developmental disabilities, Autism, or some mobility challenges. With an instructor-to-student ratio of 1:3 students must be able to transfer into a kayak on a dock with minimal support. Students must possess adequate trunk support and be comfortable paddling independently or in a double kayak with a caregiver. DBMS is committed to providing access to paddlesports for all, so new this spring, we have more adaptive equipment including lighter paddles, supportive seating adjustments, and a kayak launcher.
