Needs Based Scholarship Application Process

Thank you for your interest in the Duxbury Bay Maritime School programs. We are grateful to our donors, for allowing us the opportunity to extend needs based scholarship opportunities to youth under age 18.

To initiate the process, please send an email to our HR Manager at hr@dbms.org with your contact information and the options for programs and dates. Our HR Manager will reach out to you to get additional information and let you know which programs and dates are available so that we can reserve a spot. This does not guarantee that you will receive financial assistance but will reserve a spot for your applicant.

Each year, we set aside a certain amount of spots in our programs for scholarship recipients. Due to the fixed amount of spots, financial aid is limited to one program per season for qualified youth under age 18. If there are spots that have not been taken by scholarship applicants, we may be able to provide additional programs to qualified families. Please note that students are entered in our booking system in the same way as all other students, so instructors do not know which students are receiving assistance.

To ensure a consistent and equitable process, applicants must complete the Scholarship Application and provide copies of required supporting documentation unless you are already pre qualified by a community group or external organization. Please include any supplemental information that may be relevant such as a change in circumstances from the previous year.

Applicants are reviewed on a rolling basis and forms must be completed at least two weeks prior to a program start date. All information is confidential. You will receive an email at least one week prior to the program start date. We would like to get you an answer as soon as possible so please submit your Scholarship Application in advance.

If you have any questions throughout this process, please send an email to Hr@dbms.org or call DBMS at 781-934-7555 and ask to speak to the HR Manager to inquire about scholarship information.
