Choosing a Class

Rowing is a progression of skillsets and classes.  Each individual will progress through the levels at their own pace.  All classes listed have prerequisites to help guide you and our coaches are a great resource for helping you meet your goals. Questions? 

Find the Right Fit for You

New to rowing in a shell with a sliding seat?
Register for our Learn to Row class or book a private lesson to get started.

Experienced in sweep rowing but new to sculling?
No problem! Transition smoothly with a private lesson or join our Novice Class.

Have sculling experience in a more stable boat?
Begin with our Novice Class.

Experienced in small boats or team boats without a coxswain (less stable shells)?
Register for our Intermediate Class.

Previously raced or rowed for multiple seasons with a coach’s recommendation?
Register for our Advanced or Competitive Rowing Class.

Want to try a single shell?
Start with our Intro to Singles class or a private lesson. Once you’re confident in steering and navigating the bay, you can join our Regular Singles Class.

Fitness Classes
Open to all fitness levels! Our Strength Training classes are offered in Level 1 and Level 2. Level 2 requires 2-4 months of recent or prior training experience.  No experience is required for our RowHIIT class. We will teach you how to row on the ergometer to get the cardio workout and the best results from your class.
