Beginning in 2000, DBMS has collaborated with Crossroads for Kids to provide a tuition-free on-the-water program for at-risk, urban youth. The program, now called Maritime Adventures, has since expanded and is geared for youth attending community organizations that are interested in including maritime education and recreation. Since it’s inception, Maritime Adventures has served hundreds of middle to high school aged campers during each 8-week season.

Participating in maritime activities allows kids to learn new skills, explore our Bay and get exposed to creatures in our Marine Science Lab, learn about careers in the maritime industry as well as teach them how important teamwork and a positive attitude are in accomplishing goals – on and off the water. Each camper involved with Maritime Adventures participated in five to seven 2.5-hour sessions of on-the-water activities. In 2021 we started to expand our maritime adventures program by partnering with local organizations. We welcome any organization interested, to reach out to us.

DBMS does not charge the students of Maritime Adventures for the program and must raise the funds needed to cover operating and capital costs. For more information regarding camper eligibility and program specifics, or making a donation to Maritime Adventures please contact DBMS.

Do you know an organization that would be interested in a partnership? Please email Peter@dbms.org or call us at 781-934-7555.
