Students, please take the helm! DBMS is excited to offer a brand new and expanded on-water boater’s education course this summer. During this two-day class, students will spend a total of 8 hours on the water and at the wheel with USCG certified Captains. Modeled after “Driver’s Education,” our Captains will instruct while your student navigates Duxbury Bay and Plymouth Harbor. Covered topics include safety, navigation, boat handling, docking, anchoring, and advanced maneuvers. IMPORTANT! Students can also add-on our two-day MEP Boater’s License course (Safe Power Boating) at a discounted rate to complete their certification. The MEP License course is now REQUIRED by law to operate in Massachusetts. To ADD the license course, please select "Safe Power Boating" as an additional course when registering.

Are you looking to gain some private on water powerboating experience? Welcome aboard our instruction vessel! Please book a lesson in this section if you require use of a DBMS vessel for your lesson. All of our instructors are U.S. Coast Guard licensed captains and ready to help you master the ocean.  All of our private lessons are custom tailered to your needs wether you're a beginner or intermediate powerboater. In our lessons we cover safety, navigation, and general to advanced knowledge of recreational maritime navigation. Both adults and chilidren aged 12+ are welcomed to sign up. If you’re looking for the highest level of instruction and an invaluable opportunity, this is the class to sign up for.

Boating basics taught by women for women! This fun and empowering, hands-on, on-the-water introduction to boating is designed for casual boaters. We will explore basic navigation, engine troubleshooting, mooring, docking, anchoring, and what to do if you find yourself “in charge” onboard. Every boater should know what to do in case of an emergency on the water. We will spend some time in the classroom, take a tour of Duxbury Bay, teach you how to drive a small powerboat, and answer all of your questions in a judgment free space. The day wraps up with lunch on the porch!

*ATTENTION MASS BOATERS!* Massachusetts law now requires for all boaters to hold an approved Safe Boating License. This one-day classroom course is NASBLA and Massachusetts Environmental Police approved. Taught by our friends from Boatwise, you'll learn about essential boating laws, safety equipment, navigation rules, and emergency procedures. Upon passing the exam, you’ll receive your official Massachusetts boating certificate. This course is for ages 12+ and taught on DBMS campus.

A destination-focused tour to Clark’s Island, one of the most historically significant sites in Duxbury Bay. This ride explores the island’s role in early settlement and maritime history, offering closer views from the water and context on why Clark's Island remains an important landmark today.  Book all 12 seats for a private tour!  Contact Preston@dbms.org for additional availability.

Guided tours centered on Duxbury’s maritime history. These trips are narration-led, highlighting shipbuilding, navigation, working waterfronts, and the people who shaped the bay. Relaxed cruise focused on scenery, wildlife, and atmosphere. Designed for enjoyment or education, these trips include light narration, sunset cruises, and calm-water scenic runs. Incredible small group trip to Lighthouses in Duxbury and Plymouth Bay. This tour focuses on exploring notable places such as Gurnet and Bug Light up close.
