Sailing Rowing Veteran Maritime Adventures

Adaptive Sailing | May

Prerequisites: Student to Aid Ratio: To ensure the highest safety standards and maximum comfort for our participants, Adaptive Sailing adheres to the following Student-to-Aid ratios: Wheelchair Participant: One participant per one capable aid. A capable aid is someone who can provide significant assistance in moving the participant into and out of the sailboat. Mobile Student: Two students per one aid. A mobile student is someone who requires minimal assistance to get into and out of the sailboat.

Embark on a 1.5-hour sailing adventure aboard our Marshall 22' Catboat, designed for accessibility, comfort, and education. Featuring wheelchair access, a Hoyer lift, and 5-point harness seats offering trunk support, participants of all abilities can safely enjoy the thrill of sailing on the open water. Stop! Before registering a sailing participant, you must also register aids and caregivers so that we have an accurate headcount of all persons planning to sail.

Adaptive Rowing | Youth | Unified Indoors

Ages: 13+ years old as of August 31, 2026

Prerequisites: competent swimmer

It's nearly time to get on the water! Join our Unified Rowing Team! This program provides an inclusive and supportive environment for high school aged youth with varying abilities to learn to row. Students must be able to maintain core stability in a seated position and move independently on a rowing machine.  We have scholarships available for participants who qualify.

It's time to get on the water! We are ready to take the skills we've been honing all winter to Duxbury Bay.

Rowing | Adult | Adaptive Rowing | On Water

This program provides a supportive environment for individuals ages 15+ with disabilities to learn to row on the water. Classes will involve team-building, stretching, learning the basics of rowing on an erg machine, and progressing to utilizing our indoor rowing tanks, and in stable boats on the water. When the weather allows this session, we will row or paddle on the water. Students must be able to maintain core stability in a seated position and move independently on a rowing machine. This course is intended to be a continuation of our adaptive paddlesports community, but is open to new participants as well. Past participants of adaptive paddlesports have had developmental disabilities, TBIs, Down Syndrome, limb differences, Autism, and mobility challenges. Supportive erg seats and hand supports are available.

William S. Thayer Veterans Rowing | Indoors

Prerequisites: Active or Former U.S. Service Members., No Experience Needed

Are you a veteran with rowing experience, or interested in returning to the sport in a supportive, accessible setting? Join us this spring for an indoor rowing session designed to build confidence, improve technique, and foster connection; no on-water participation required.

William S. Thayer Veterans Rowing | On Water

Ages: 18+ years old as of August 31, 2026

Prerequisites: Active or Former U.S. Service Members., Must have completed one session of indoor rowing prior.

Join us this spring on Duxbury Bay for on-water training (weather permitting) in Hudson Quad rowing shells and coastal rowing doubles. You'll receive instruction in rowing technique, boat handling, safety, and teamwork. By the end, you'll have a solid foundation in rowing and be ready to continue, whether recreationally or competitively.
