Sailing Paddle Rowing Veteran Maritime Adventures

Adaptive Sailing | June

Ages: 1+ years old as of August 31, 2026

Prerequisites: Student to Aid Ratio: To ensure the highest safety standards and maximum comfort for our participants, Adaptive Sailing adheres to the following Student-to-Aid ratios: Wheelchair Participant: One participant per one capable aid. A capable aid is someone who can provide significant assistance in moving the participant into and out of the sailboat. Mobile Student: Two students per one aid. A mobile student is someone who requires minimal assistance to get into and out of the sailboat.

Embark on a 1.5-hour sailing adventure aboard our Marshall 22' Catboat, designed for accessibility, comfort, and education. Featuring wheelchair access, a Hoyer lift, and 5-point harness seats offering trunk support, participants of all abilities can safely enjoy the thrill of sailing on the open water. Stop! Before registering a sailing participant, you must also register aids and caregivers so that we have an accurate headcount of all persons planning to sail.

Ages: 15+ years old as of August 31, 2026

Prerequisites: Students must be able to transfer into a kayak on a dock with minimal support and have adequate trunk control. They should also be comfortable paddling independently or in a double kayak with a caregiver.

Come join the DBMS community for a free guided kayaking excursion and picnic on the DBMS lawn. Instructors will get you geared up with kayaks, then set out on the water from 10:30 to 11:30. Then, families and participants are welcome to stay and have a picnic from home on the lawn.

We welcome all service members and their families—past and present—to enjoy a memorable day on the water. Whether you choose to sail, take a powerboat cruise, row, or simply relax and take in the beautiful scenery, there’s something for everyone. Join us on Duxbury Bay this spring for a hands-on rowing lesson designed to refine your technique and build confidence on the water. Through a mix of guided instruction and practical rowing sessions, participants will focus on stroke mechanics, boat handling, safety protocols, and teamwork. Whether you're looking to row recreationally or competitively, this lesson will help you strengthen your skills and enjoy time on the water with fellow veterans.
