Erg Classes

Our small group erg classes run for one hour and are a structured class for both novice and experienced rowers. Classes consist of stretching, warm up, steady state and speed drills to improve your rowing technique and endurance. Athletes of all levels benefit from these classes while enjoying the view of Duxbury bay on our porch protected from the elements. Stay healthy this winter and join the small group outdoor rowing classes!

*Please note that ALL Erg Classes will be held outside while observing social distancing guidelines for everyone’s safety. Erg Classes will be held under cover on the back porch of the Smith Building at DBMS.

All classes run for four weeks.  Simply pick your day of the week and time slot.

Rowing Tank Classes

Our small group tank class run for one hour in the state-of-the-art Rowing Center and is currently set up for two scullers/rowers sitting 14 feet apart. Each participant focuses on technical development through a progression of drills and steady state rowing. The opportunity to be filmed and projected on the large screen (while you row) is an incredible teaching tool for our coaches and a comprehensive learning tool for our participants. The tank classes are ideal for athletes of all ages from beginner to experienced to explore and expand on your technical proficiency in a safe and controlled environment.

Mondays 6:30am, 8:00am, 9:30am and 11:00am
Tuesdays 6:00am, 7:30am, 9:00am and 10:30am
Wednesdays 6:30am, 8:00am, 9:30am and 11:00am
Thursdays 6:00am, 7:30am, 9:00am and 10:30am

Small Group Strength Training Classes

We are excited to offer a 4 week small group strength training program. Dr. Liz Lange teaches this personalized class for anyone interested in improving mobility and strength. This strength training class is suitable for anyone new to resistance training or athletes returning from injury or time off.

  • What can I expect? We will focus on major movement patterns and building a foundation of strength with a variety of tools including body weight, bands and dumbbells. Each class will have a dynamic warm up and be a full body workout. The small class size will allow for personal attention and modifications as needed. Plan on having fun, learning and getting healthy.
  • Where is class held? We plan on being outside and in the event of poor weather we have appropriate shelter. We will follow all mandated Covid 19 protocols.

Rowing Center Open Access

Grants you access to the equipment within the Free Fitness & Erg Rooms during the “Open Access” time indicated below. Rowers must follow social distancing guidelines and agree to our cleaning policies and procedures. Once you sign up you will be given key card access and a brief orientation on our expectations. Inclement Weather Policy

On days when Duxbury schools are closed due to inclement weather, there will be no instructor-led courses at DBMS. If the DBMS buildings are open, and an athlete can make it safely to DBMS on his or her own, they are invited to work out on their own during their normally scheduled program times. Please contact DBMS at (781) 934-7555 or email between 9am and 5pm to make certain that the DBMS facilities are open.
