Sailing Instructor
As a part-time summer Instructor you will be a role model and teacher for youth sailors. Duties include but are not limited to writing lesson plans, driving a safety launch/Coach Boat, cleaning and repairing equipment, supervising students on the water and most importantly – keeping your students and fellow instructors safe. All Instructors must be US Sailing Level 1 Instructor Certified before starting in their role. Candidates will be required to complete First Aid, CPR, AED, SafeSport, and Heads Up certifications before the start of programs.* Preference will be given to candidates with Sailing Instructor experience.
Lead Sailing Instructor
As a part-time summer Lead Instructor you will be a role model and teacher for youth sailors and other instructors. Lead Instructors will work with a specific age group (5-9, 10-12, or 13+) and will coordinate and assist other instructors on the water. Duties include but are not limited to writing lesson plans, driving a safety launch/Coach Boat, cleaning and repairing equipment, supervising students on the water and most importantly – keeping your students and fellow instructors safe. Lead Instructors may also assist the Sailing Director with administrative functions and planning. Lead Instructors must be US Sailing Level 1 Instructor Certified before starting in their role. Candidates will be required to complete First Aid, CPR, AED, SafeSport, and Heads Up certifications.* Candidates must be over 18 and have Sailing Instructor experience.
Sailing Instructor in Training
As a part-time summer Sailing Instructor in Training, you will develop your abilities to teach, lead, and inspire the next generation of sailors. This is a 7-week summer job-training program for those interested in furthering their sailing education by learning the skills required to become instructors. Click here to learn more.
Accessail Instructor
As a part-time summer Accessail Instructor you will work on a tidal schedule to ensure safe operation of our 22 foot Marshall Cat sailboats for participants with varying physical and cognitive abilities. Duties include but are not limited to sailing, aiding participants with embarking and disembarking vessels and equipment management. Opportunities available for both Skippers and crew positions. Crew members will assist skippers in rigging, docking and navigation. All positions must be First Aid, CPR and AED certified.* In addition, Skippers must be SafeSport, and Heads-Up certified before the start of programs. Ideal candidates are over 18 and have US Sailing Level 1 Instructor certification or greater.
Rowing Instructor
As a part-time summer Rowing Instructor you will be a role model and instructor for youth ages 12-18 participating in rowing on Duxbury Bay. Instructors are responsible for rowing instruction and for the safety of the athletes while on campus in the rowing center, and on the water. Duties include driving a motorboat independently and navigating safely while coaching athletes on the water, teaching our core curriculum, regular equipment maintenance, and modifying instruction in response to changes in weather. College rowing experience is preferred and all candidates are required to complete First Aid, CPR, AED, SafeSport and motor boating safety certification courses before the start of programs.*
HS Rowing Novice Girls Coach
We are currently looking for a highly motivated Girls Novice coach for the 2023-2024 school year. The Fall Season runs August 28 – October 29th, and the Spring Season runs March 18 – May 31st.
The team practices 5-6 days a week; weekdays in the afternoons and Saturday mornings, with some Sunday regattas. Salary and benefits will be based on availability and experience. Salary starts at $20/hour.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
–coaching high school athletes both for water and land practices
–upholding school policies and safety standards
–supporting head coaches and program directors in pursuing the mission of the team and DBMS
Coaches should also expect weekend travel 4-6 times per season for regattas.
Requirements:
–Experience rowing at the high school/college level
–Clear understanding of erging/rowing technique for both sculling and sweep
–Ability to communicate and work effectively (explain concepts clearly, be receptive to changing approach, etc)
–Creating and maintaining a safe, positive atmosphere for kids to develop into competitive athletes of high character

Adult Rowing Coach
DBMS is looking for experienced rowers to coach for our Adult Rowing Program. With your years of experience, we can train you to coach our team of recreational master rowers. As an instructor you will be responsible for implementing the course curriculum during classes. This includes teaching proper rowing technique to individuals at all levels of proficiency. Summer Marine Science Instructor
As a part-time summer Marine Science Instructor you will be a role model and instructor for youth from preschool through high school ages. Instructors collaborate with other staff and program directors to design and implement innovative and fun marine science offerings. Duties include driving vans and motorboats, supervising lab activities, and teaching age-specific lessons. Instructors must have an interest in Marine Science and have prior teaching experience. Applicants will be required to complete First Aid, CPR, AED, and SafeSport certifications before the start of programs.*
Marine Science Field Trip Instructor
As a part-time Marine Science Field Trip Instructor, you will teach pre-planned lessons for students in Grades K-6. Instructors will be responsible for groups of 15-25 students. Applicants must be comfortable working outdoors and on or around boats. Applicants must complete First Aid, CPR, AED, and SafeSport certifications before starting in the role.* Instructors must be over 18 years old, be passionate about Marine Science, and have prior teaching experience. Ideal candidates have a degree or are pursuing a degree in education or marine science.
Duxbury Bay Adventures Instructor
As a summer Duxbury Bay Adventures Instructor you will be a role model and teacher for youth aged 6-12 participating in sailing, kayaking, and marine science programs. Instructors will oversee a group of 8-12 children for a six hour day. Duties include planning and leading engaging activities, teaching marine science lessons, supervising water activities, leading field-trips, and most importantly – keeping your students and fellow instructors safe. We require all Instructors to complete First Aid, CPR, AED, SafeSport, motor boating safety, and Heads Up Certifications before the start of programs.* Ideal candidates are over 18.
Launch Driver
Launch Drivers at DBMS are critical to the success of our summer junior programs, events, and community outreach. Launch drivers are expected to act as role models and instructors to all young participants in sailing, marine science, kayaking, DBA, and other programs. Duties include driving launches to pick up and deliver sailing students to their respective floats, maintaining motorboats and other equipment, performing maintenance duties on campus, teaching power boating lessons, and adhering to all safety standards set by the USCG and DBMS. Launch Drivers must have their USCG Approved Limited Master (Launch Tender) License and be 18 years of age or older. Candidates will be required to complete First Aid, CPR, AED, and SafeSport certifications before the start of programs.*
Venue/Bar Supervisor
Venue/Bar Event Supervisors at DBMS are part-time seasonal employees who assist our event vendors in overseeing all aspects of our venue and bar during weekend events, such as weddings, from May through October. General duties of the Supervisor include opening and closing the building for caterers and vendors, distributing and inventorying alcohol for bartenders, assisting clients with set-up, and execution and completion of a step by step event checklist. Bartending opportunities may be available if interested. Supervisors will be required to work a minimum number of dates through October including 3 weekend evenings per month. Candidates must be over the age of 20 and will be required to complete First Aid, CPR, AED, and eTIPS certifications.*
Maritime Adventures
As a part time Maritime Adventures Instructor you will be a role model and guide for students visiting from local community groups. Instructors will work in teams to instruct groups of 10-20 kids (aged 8-16). Participants will take part in exploration of the sand flats, sailing, and paddlesports. Responsibilities include, sailing or navigating in 22 foot vessels, running on and off the water marine education, supervising low tide activities, and most importantly keeping your students safe. Crew members will assist skippers in rigging, docking and navigation. All positions must be First Aid, CPR and AED certified. We require all Instructors to complete First Aid, CPR and AED, SafeSport, motor boating safety before the start of programs.* Candidates under 18 without a US Sailing Level 1 Instructor certification* will be considered.
