Announcement:

We are restructuring our powerboating curriculum!

This April we are offering the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Police Boating Safety Course in-person for free.  The fully classroom based course is open to anyone over the age of 12.  All graduates will be issued a Massachusetts approved boating safety certificate. A safety certificate is required by law for anyone aged 12-15 to operate a powered vessel, and anyone aged 16-17 to operate a PWC. Anyone can also complete a boating safety course fully online at their own pace, by visiting the Massachusetts Environmental Police website.

Make sure your child is safe on the water by having them drive one of our boats this summer with a certified Captain!  Students who have completed and passed a boating safety course, either in-person or online, can now register for our NEW stand-alone course that is fully on the water. Our updated summer powerboating class is now taught by USCG licensed Captains and is offered to students ages 12-18.

Private Lessons for adults and youth are available in the late spring, summer and fall.

Welcome to Powerboating at DBMS!

Ages: 12-18 4 hrs/Day, 2 days $395

Students, please take the helm! DBMS is excited to offer a brand new and expanded on-water only boater’s education course this summer. You must have a Junior Operator’s License to register for this class.  During this two day class students will spend a total of 8 hours on the water and at the wheel with USCG certified Captains. Modeled after “Driver’s Education,” our Captains will instruct while your student navigates Duxbury Bay and Plymouth Harbor. Covered topics include safety, navigation, boat handling, docking, anchoring, and advanced maneuvers. All our instructor Captains have years of experience on small and large vessels. If you’re looking for the highest level of instruction and an invaluable opportunity for your 12-17 year old, this is the class to sign up for.

Prerequisite:  Age 12+ and successful completion of a Mass boating safety course

Ages: 21+
Boating basics taught by women for women! This fun and empowering, hands-on, on-the-water introduction to boating is designed for casual boaters. We will explore basic navigation, engine troubleshooting, mooring, docking, anchoring, and what to do if you find yourself “in charge” onboard. Every boater should know what to do in case of an emergency on the water. We will spend some time in the classroom, take a tour of Duxbury Bay, teach you how to drive a small powerboat, and answer all of your questions in a judgment free space. The day wraps up with wine and snacks on the porch!
