Duxbury Boys and Girls crew came out on top of every race in the four team quad meet held on Saturday, April 28th on Chebacco Lake in Essex, MA.
Head & Boys Varsity Coach Oli Rosenbladt:
“It was a great day by the athletes today. It’s good to come out of the week after April vacation and see the whole team firing on all cylinders. We’re into the critical stretch of our regular season now, and these results are very encouraging for both the Boys and Girls squads.”
Senior Sophie McArdle, coxswain, Boys 1st Boat
“Our whole team rowed hard and had very powerful races. In my boat, we managed to sprint ahead of the other crews in the first 500 meters and kept them off for the remainder of the course. With all the hard work everyone has put in, it’s a great feeling to come up on top.”
Senior Paul O’Neil, Boys 4th Boat
“Our boat got off to a very strong start which helped us hold a lead over the opposing boats for the remainder of the race. Everyone came out determined to win today.”
Girls Varsity Coach Betsy Davenport:
“We had a beautiful day of racing on flat water. It was exciting to see the first boat step up against good competition and race at high stroke ratings for the first time this season. Boats two through four were only separated from each other by six seconds, demonstrating how deep we are as a team. We have strong, talented rowers in every boat and it is going to be exciting to see them compete for the next month.”
Senior Tara Curran, Girls 2nd Boat, co-captain
“It was really great to see the whole team come together on the first full team regatta of the season. The hard work and hours of practice paid off and I hope we can continue these results in the upcoming regattas!”
Senior Molly Roche, Girls 1st boat:
“Today was a great day of racing. The venue was new to us, the teams we were racing against were new as well. Going into the race my boat and I were excited for new competition and we came out
on top. Kate Reynolds (Princeton ‘22) my boats coxswain did a great job calling our race. She kept us motivated to keep going and made calls ultimately winning the race for us. Today was a total team effort as both the boys and girls teams won first in all of our races.”
