Melinda has been an instructor for the Duxbury Bay Maritime School summer rowing program for the last three years, and will be joining the Crew staff for this coming fall.

She initially started rowing in New York City, where she rowed for the Harlem River Crew team, now known as Row New York. Then, during her senior year of high school, she joined the Duxbury Varsity Crew team after her family moved to the town of Duxbury.

After high school Melinda moved to Cape Town, South Africa for 3 months where she worked as a volunteer elementary school gym teacher and with fellow volunteer Helen Burke started and ran an afterschool dance program for underprivileged kids in the town of Parkwood. After South Africa, Melinda moved to Cusco, Peru where for three months where she taught English to Peruvian School teachers in order to help them become better qualified for future teaching positions. She next went on to participate in conservation projects in both Nepal and Thailand for two months.

After an amazing year of travel Melinda attended Rollins College in Florida for a year. During her time there she was involved with the Rock Climbing team and JUMP (Join Us in Making Progress), an on campus volunteer group that worked within the local Orlando community. Her involvement in JUMP allowed her to continue to work with kids and rediscover the excitement she finds in working with kids.

Melinda is currently taking fall off from school to transfer and is excited to work with the team this coming season.
