The DBMS Crews finished their season off strongly at the MPSRA Fall State Championships, capturing medals in 9 of 11 events. Both the Boys and Girls teams finished as State runners-up in the Boys Fours and Girls Fours team overall standings, behind Cambridge Rindge & Latin school.
The Dubxury boys were led by the First Boat of Ethan Donnelly, Jonny Campbell, Charlie Rubin, Chris Beckerman and coxswain Sophie McArdle, who turned on the jets in the last quarter of the 2.5 mile course in Lowell to finish within 3.5 seconds of their arch-rivals Cambridge in silver medal position.
The Duxbury Girls First Boat of Amanda Kenney, Kate McNulty, Molly Roche, Caitlin Stehn and coxswain Kate Reynolds found themselves in a three-way tussle with Cambridge and Boston Latin, and finished in the bronze medal position.
At the Varsity level, Duxbury also captured silver medals in the Boys & Girls Second Boat events, and gold medals in the Boys & Girls Third Boat.
On the Novice side, the Boys Novice Four finished second, while the Girls Novice Four and Novice Eight each won bronze.
Additionally, the Girls Double finished 6th, and the Boys Novice Eight finished 8th.
“This was a great way to finish off our fall season, and we’re proud of our athletes,” said DBMS Head Coach Oli Rosenbladt. “We made huge gains across our program this year, and we’re looking forward to carrying this momentum into our spring season.”
