Adventure awaits aboard the RS Quest! Whether you're stepping onto a sailboat for the very first time or looking to build your skills, this crew-based sailing experience is designed for all experience levels. Groups of 3–5 sailors set out to explore local waters, discover scenic landmarks, and learn the fundamentals of seamanship through hands-on adventure. With an experienced instructor onboard every trip, sailors gain confidence as they steer, trim sails, and work together as a crew—all in a fun, supportive, and exciting environment.

Adventure awaits aboard the RS Quest! Designed for sailors ages 10–12, this exciting group sailing experience gives young adventurers the chance to take the helm and sail as a crew working together in groups of 3–5. No prior sailing experience is required—just a sense of adventure and a willingness to learn. While sailors operate the boat independently, an experienced instructor closely supervises and coaches from an adjacent safety boat, providing guidance, instruction, and support throughout the session. As they navigate, communicate, and solve challenges together, sailors gain confidence, independence, and unforgettable memories on the water.

Designed for 10–12-year-old sailors of every level, Opti Fundamentals delivers personalized progression in small, skill-matched groups—Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced—ensuring each child advances at their own pace on Duxbury Bay. Beginners master basic rigging, tacking, and wind awareness; Intermediates refine boat speed, sail trim, and simple tactics; while Advanced sailors drill race starts, mark roundings, and fleet positioning. All groups train together yet receive targeted coaching, fostering confidence, sportsmanship, and a clear pathway from first capsize to first podium.

Royal Scandinavian Yacht Club Exchange Program

Prerequisites: US Sailing Level 1 Certification

Deadline: April 30th, 2026

A summer exchange program allows young sailors to sail and race in Scandinavia. Junior sailors, age 15-18, are invited to apply for the opportunity to live with a family for approximately two weeks during the summer, to sail on foreign waters, and to spend time with Scandinavian or American teens with whom they share the common interest of sailing. The NAS and Home Clubs make introductions and the coordinators make arrangements between the Exchange Juniors and the Host Families.

The Scandinavian clubs are the Royal Gothenburg YC (GKSS), the Royal Swedish YC (KSSS, in Stockholm), the Royal Norwegian YC (KNS, in Oslo), the Royal Danish YC (KDY, near Copenhagen) and Nyländska Jaktklubben (NJK, in Helsinki Finland).

Our Private Junior Sailing Lessons offer one-on-one or small-group coaching with a DBMS instructor, perfect for beginners looking to build confidence, intermediate sailors seeking focused skill development, or advanced racers working on strategy and technique.

Lessons are taught aboard a variety of boats including Prams, Optis, Quests, and 420s, based on the sailor’s age, size, and interest. Whether it’s learning the basics, mastering a maneuver, or preparing for a regatta, our instructors will meet each sailor where they are and help chart a course for growth on the water.
