The Duxbury Bay Maritime School welcomes two incredible staffers this week!
Anita Sullivan begins her position as Wedding Planner & Event Coordinator. Anita takes on this new role at DBMS after three years working as the school’s Registrar and Director of Marine Ecology. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience having worked in the restaurant and catering industry for over 30 years, ten of which she worked with Gourmet Caterers, where she helped plan weddings and special events throughout the greater Boston area.
Anita also has past experience working with Reebok, Bank of Boston and the Perkins School for the Blind. Prior to starting her career, Anita attended Southern New Hampshire University where she earned her Bachelors Degree in Management. A longtime resident of Duxbury, Anita and her family are very active in the community and participate in as many DBMS’s programs as she can enroll them in!
McKenzie Thompson has been a part of the DBMS community since she was 7 years old. She got her start on the water with Pram Power and continued her sailing education each summer, ultimately earning a spot on the 420-race team. In 2011, McKenzie volunteered for the Maritime Adventures program, which lead her to eventually becoming the head instructor for the program in 2014. Along with Maritime Adventures, McKenzie has helped out with a variety of summer programs including Marine Ecology, Junior Powerboating, and Junior Sailing. This past summer, some of you may have had the pleasure of meeting McKenzie over the weekends as she was also the receptionist and desk manager during events.
A recent graduate of the University of Maine, McKenzie enters the full-time workforce officially! Putting her Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Sciences to good use, McKenzie joins the DBMS team this fall as the new Registrar and Director of Marine Ecology.
